The Center of the Hive, Silver at Gamesday Chicago

Here's one of my winners from Gamesday this year. I've been procrastinating on taking pictures of this piece because I knew it would be difficult. It came out ok in the end but I think I could have taken some more cinematic angles on some of the shots. I got stuck into the mindset of click, rotate, click and just tried to present the model without any frills...the more I talk about it the more I think of re-shooting it.

Anyways here's what did come out of last night's work.

It's also on Coolmini, go vote!

Oh the memories tied into this piece. It's the first diorama I've ever attempted and it sat by the wayside many many times. It just struck me when I opened the Space Hulk boxed set. As soon as I saw the genestealers I knew I had to use them for something. Who knows when the next model will inspire me to make something much larger than the model itself? I have a lot of models to paint for next years events and I'm really growing to love the diorama category :)

Dreadnought for Sale!

Today I sat down and finished off this big blue bumbler. You may have seen him hanging out on my desk in my last post. I've been working on him to break things up when I was painting the Wolf Lord from Scibor.

He's up on E-bay right now so happy bidding :)

Speaking of the Wolf Lord, here's a near complete shot of him. Nothing fancy with the photos yet so don't expect too much.

He still needs more snow and some facial detailing. Aside from a final check up he should be ready for action in no time.

I've also started some of the new commissions from Armorcast I received at Gen Con.

She's also a bit of a hint of things to come around here ;)

Finished Sanguinary Priest and WIP Wolf lord from Scibor

Yesterday I finished off and photographed yet another Sanguinary priest for the wilds of E-bay. I think that makes five now...They keep selling though so hey, give the people what they wants and they wants it all the time.

Now that I have some auctions cooking on E-bay it's time to go full force on the commissions. The Wolf Lord from Scibor is well on his way. the most daunting part was beginning the painstaking process of painting all the runes on the armor. With that behind me I started glazing more blue tones into the armor and working up the bear's fur. Nothing is finished at this point but he's coming along :)

I better get back to work. I plan on going out later and don't want the guilt of a wasted day weighing on my conscience.

Cheers!

Gen Con Photopalooza

Well, I finally got down to sorting the photos from Gen Con. With out further ado let's jump right in :)

Outside of the hall's there were plenty of iconic characters set up. Having recently completed the Dark Elf trilogy I'm a big fan of the famous Drizzt Do'Urden.

This big guy was hanging out with Privater Press. I was lucky enough to take home two Gold medals in the Grandmaster Painting Competition for my Diretroll Blitzer and Madrak Ironhide. So far so good, the only 2 models in my budding army have gold medals :) I plan on painting some Fennblades when I find time again to add to my Trollkin army. See you next year P3!

Further inside the hall I found a bitchin' display in the form of the Hirst Arts booth.

I sure do love a good table, here are some upcoming pieces from Battlefield in a Box.

I found the Dark Age table near the Coolmini booth quite captivating as well :)

Are you looking for a Tail?

Han, cute huh? It is and don't talk shit about costumes, they really made the event a lot more fun...Unless you're peering over your creep rapist glasses with a firmly straight face, then please don't wear a pink hat and tail. Pedophiles look creepy no matter how furry they are. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

This girl made this whole suit herself!

They are not mountains they are but men. Here we see Geoffrey from Crazy Igor's and Kevin the Bitz Pimp (http://myworld.ebay.com/teachermickeymouse/?_trksid=p4340.l2559) These two guy made my stay in the Chimera's booth and Gen Con, much more entertaining :) Good friends to have indeed.

That's about all I got pictures of from Gen Con, after all I was working some of the time. Phewie. Next time I'll have the loot I took home from Gen Con and Games Day. A little glimpse of things to come around the blog ;)

Cheers and keep your heads up!

Back to the Grind, WIP Madness

I'm finally back home from my Gen Con/ Tour extravaganza. What a ride it's been, I'm happy to be back and it's time to get kicking again. I'll have the scoop on my experience at Gen Con next time ;) Today I just wanted to get back into the swing of things.

First off I spent and hour today experimenting with and eventually building a base for a model I acquired at Gen Con. I also intend on using this base style for one of models I bought at Games Day, which I forgot to post pictures of when I posted all my GD photos. I'll snap pictures of all my swag from Gen Con and Games Day next time. Today I just wanted to get down to some old fashioned modelling.

I've been noticing a few bases here and there where there's a sort of sub level exposed. I thought I'd take a crack at one and decided that style would go well with Dee Dee, space girl by Reaper. This one's just a personal piece for my own collection.

I also got to work on a commission from my pal in Switzerland. Thanks for the chocolate by the way Christophe ;) He sent me two pieces, the first being Njal Stormcaller.

Just a bit of airbrushing a wash and the beginnings of some battle damage.

The second is a stunning model from Scibor. I'll let the mini do the talking.

I'm very enthused to be working on these models, especially the Bear from Scibor! I'll have these guys done in no time :)

Tour can be slightly draining on the income. I found the time to throw up some Ebay auctions today.

Both of these models are older paintjobs and I've realized I don't need to keep every model I paint...slowly.
