Along walked a dwarf

While I was waiting for supplies to arrive for a recent project I decided to take that time and work on a personal project. There is a massive amount of Rackham figures in my workstation that need to see the light of day and colors of the rainbow. So I decided on Bal-torg the ancient, with no competition or deadline in mind. Just the freeflowing jazzmagic of a squirrel hair brush.

But every dwarf needs a rock to stand on so, first things first, I started with the base. The idea is that he is rediscovering a lost keep, partially submerged and replete with treasure.

I also found time to get the figure blocked in.

My pallet, after the dust had settled.

Finished! Ratskin Renegades

I know it's not throwback thursday yet but here are some models from the school of old. Plus some, wreck-age figures in the mix. My client has assembled a post apocalyptic warband of miniatures from the past and present. I was also allowed to paint them however I please, most excellent :) Fourteen figures, 10 hours. Tabletop quality rats for your viewing pleasures.

Finished! Croak Raiders

Very cool minis, I pre-ordered them in hopes that they would arrive before Gencon and I'd still have time to paint them for the P3 contest. As luck would have it they arrived two weeks before the event. They took home a silver coin in their category :) I hope to see more croak miniatures in the future, with the multitude of poisonous frog color schemes out there, who doesn't like amphibians?

Rock the vote on Coolmini!

Finished! Red Metal Tau

Spanglin and manglin, here come the red metal crisis suits :)

All done and on to the next one, loads and loads of commissions coming in. I'm still trying to post a Gencon recap but today's mission will be painting some Ratskin Renegades. Gotta keep that brush swinging!

Release The Kraken!!

This was another of my entries for the P3 competition at Gencon this year. I've been drawing longer than I've been painting minis and it's about time and it was fun to combine the two in a more major way. Looking very much like something that escaped from H.G Wells imagination, I present to you...The Kraken!

Get out there and rock the vote on Coolminiornot. I'm not cutting this picture up either so you'll have to view her in all her plus sized glory there ha.

Red Metal Tau Part 2

Almost complete and flowing like the razor on the edge of a knife.

Just some more highlighting on the non metallic areas to go. Some basing detail too, lest we forget. The nine drones will get their turn as well but I wanted to get the suits done first as they are painted to a higher level.

Red Metal Tau WIP

Just kicked these off with some airbrushing yesterday. More Tau for my buddy J.R. This time painted in Red Metaaal (insert guitar solo) which is a welcome challenge. I took a few shots along the way before hanging up my brush and going out for some real shots.

I'm enjoying the hot red lead on these badboys. Today's focus will be on picking out the details as all the work left is by hand brush. Luckily I've discovered a new podcast to feed my inner thoughts and span some time with. Check out The Last Podcast on the Left for some paint listening. Who knows? You might even be listening to the episode I'm on and it will be like we're painting together.

I still have to post a Gencon wrap up so keep an eye out for that in the near future. It went well, but more on that next time :)
