Finished! Saito Togan Mercenary Ninja

One of the many, many miniatures I bought at Adepticon. I'm going to keep good on the promise to myself and get it all painted. Not every piece has to be exhibition quality and I get a lot of satisfaction creating miniatures at all levels of detail. This time around, after airbrushing the basecoat, I gave myself an hour and a half to paint this guy. Which will probably be the norm for most of my Infinity army. Not sure how useful he'll be in game but he's going to get play anyway. Plus he's a mercenary so anyone in our group can step to the wu-tang, if they choose.

I didn't waste more than a day coming back from Adepticon. Following the event, I prepped up the next tabletop commission in line. Which is a nice release following all the high level painting done before the Crystal Brush.

Finished! Savior, Forty Years

From the Kingdom Death line. A commission piece that will double as a D&D character and a Khador witch. She's also a birthday gift. Plus, she won silver in fantasy single at this year's Crystal Brush. She really is making the rounds and that's a fact :)

She's also up for voting on Coolminiornot. Usually I would ask you click the link if it tickles your fancy but this time I'll straight up ask. When I started posing on CMON it was easy to get 50 votes but with 30 being the new standard..Who's voting anymore? People still look, plenty, the numbers are there but votes are in the 20's. It's a mild complaint, I'm asking because miniature painting is a pretty small niche and participation helps to grow the community. Later!

Finished! The Painting Wizard #2

That's right, another painting wizard in the ongoing series. I intend to make more of these for other paint friends down the line. This was a gift for my friend Matt DiPietro. Recently Matt has gone independent with his own painting service, contrast miniatures, which can be found on facebook. So this was created as a good luck gift. Let the wizard guide you Matt!

Finished! Bal-Torg the Ancient

This piece has been in the slow lane over the last few months. Maybe you'll recognize him from a few posts back but he's going to be on the front page of the blog for a while. Finally updated my header after, what, 6 years? ha. When I started this piece I was very hung up on painting, not so much the process I love but what surrounds it and what my motivation for painting is. I paint what I love and I love competitions, for the new friends and for the motivation brought by some healthy competition. Many things are about reaching your own personal best. With this piece I wanted to paint something and keep competitions out of my head, to paint something for the simple joy of painting, which has brought me to where I am today. I finished him leading up to the Crystal Brush but told myself not to enter him. Just put him in my own cabinet :) Maybe he'll come to Gencon with me in the future.

Adepticon 2016, through my eyes.

Yes my friends, it's that time of year again. Adepticon photo duuuuump! Occasionally, over the  weekend, I took pictures of what I was oogling at. Besides the amazing crystal brush contest this year, here's what I may or may not remember seeing. Enjoy!

You have to appreciate the view when you wind up on the 12th floor. Especially when it is a fleeting one. Saturday we saw random dowsings of sunlight and horizontal snow.

But the weather inside was fine :)

Breaking for lunch with Jenn :) "It's huge" the waitress grinned while we ordered. hah

All the necessary supplies and only one announcement made the white board all weekend..

All the way from Salt Lake City it's the one, the only, Holy Diver. In metal lies strength my brother. Glad he made the trip as it was by my encouragement when I lived in Utah. Always good to see you John, hope you come out again next year :)

These two, ha, thanks for strapping your gear on for the picture. I bet that didn't get old over the weekend, but damn, y'all did a great job!

The Crystal Brush this year saw some of the most impressive work I've seen in person. I'll post my entries in the following few days and the results. In the wake of it all, I'm more inspired than ever and there is never enough time with so many great people.
