Adepticon 2015 photo duuuuuump!

Just a quickie here but I'm thinking there are some people missing out on the event. So today, amidst the chaos, I took some still shots :) many things I could explain but where's the fun in that? Sleep tight, I'm drunk.

Tutorial: Build A Little Base With A Little Backdrop

I can't get enough of painted backdrops lately, they really add another dimension and further push the narrative feel. Last night as I was building the next piece to include one I took pictures of every step along the way. I think the pictures are pretty self explanatory if you want to give this a go. Enjoy!

I had to leave the testors goop to dry over night before sculpting the bit of ruins up. I'm also waiting for a noodle of putty to dry so I can cut it into rivets for the trench barrier. That same noodle will also be sliced into spent shell casings. The idea to this approach came from reading a book on how to draw comics. Basicly you want to create a foreground, midground where the main focus is, and a background. Neat!

More to come on this when I finish the paintjob.

What ya workin' on Sammy? 

Many projects for the Crystal Brush competition :) This has been a labor of love and I'll let the pictures talk for a while.

Color and texture all around :) this piece has my full attention and as the snow thaws here I can't help but to relate the lively colors with the onset of springtime. Nine more days until Adepticon, I'll have this spring fling finished off and enough time to finish one more entry :)

Finished! Malifaux 30 Deep

Finally finished :) The assembly of this project was a major bog. Wyrd miniatures needs some serious help designing the seams and number of cuts on their sculpts. I like where they're going but we're not there yet. Instructions would be a good start.

Drumroll please, I know it's only just February but my "shittiest sculpt I've seen" award for this year has to be passed to the hoarcat pride. You can can see them pictured center in the picture below. Three bearded cats in doggystyle position. 

Overall it was a fun project. Wyrd miniatures is going in a good direction but I was a little disappointed in some of thesese models. They do humans really well, molemen..not so much. 

Malifaux 30 Deep part 2

With the airbrushing complete on each group I'm now breaking them down by schemes and applying the finishing touches. The bases may appear a little sparse for now but that's due to a lack of snow which will be the icing on the cake.
