...And the thunder rolls.

First off, I'd like to apologize for that pun. I can resist everything but temptation. Puns are the big red button that I cantc not push.

It's been a while since I've painted an army for myself. It can be very fun coming up with a narrative and variations on a theme. With an escalation league happening at my local store I was inspired to gibe Age of Sigmar a try.

Originally I wanted to play Kharadron Overlords but after delving into the rules, they didn't play how I wanted them to. I wanted to be lord of the skies, shooting off the deck of my airships with mass firepower, but you can't. So it was back to the drawing broad, I chose the stormcast because it would give me some variety to work with. This way I could field an army that contained cavalry, wizards, and a dragon. Count me in!

I chose to create my own theme based on my Celtic lineage and the Blackhall Chamber was born. The first step was to get a 500 point list together, mainly some battle line troops. So I put together 10 sequitors, 3 castigators, and and evocator prime to play the part of my lord arcanum. I want to customise my models but don't have a lot of leftover bits yet, I also plan on fielding a mounted general as time goes on and the points value increases.

After assembly, I split them into smaller groups for painting.

At this point the sequitors are finished, just have to squeeze out the castigators and my wizard. Also, make some scenery to match my snow bases so I can better dominate the tabletop wan stay en vogue.

Abbadon the Despoiler

The iconic anti-hero himself, new and improved. This kit was a blast to assemble and had some hidden easter eggs that provided a unique look at the tactical dreadnought armor. Back in black and lets see if he can put a new spin on that old Vigilus invasion.

Enjoy!

Weekend Classes!

I'm very happy to have made a connection recently with CK studios, with whom I'll be teaching classes on the road. Just a couple dates to begin with but there's no time like the present to spread good info. I hope you can make it to these classes but if not, we are already working on more venues and I will be sure to post the information as it comes. Cheers!

The Damned One

Finished! My take on the Legion of the Damned. Painted during a small class I taught in England. I've always loved the concept, ever since that fabled and limited release of a legion of the damned captain in the 2nd edition era. I'll be making more of these. And yes we can code name him Nicholas Cage ala the ghost rider documentary.

Los Angeles Ram Jam!

Currently I'm sitting at the airport waiting on my delayed flight, fresh off a teaching session in sunny LA. Apparently it's a whole city of angels. It was truely unique experience and very happy to be travelling and sharing the ways of the brush. Here it's 80 degrees, at home it's 18 below. Glad I packed my vitamin C.

I spent time with a pair of great students at Mythical Games HQ. Our chosen areas of focus included, basing, sickly skin tones, battle damage, wetblending, and and really fun comparison of NMM and TMM. The subject matter was a trio of Skaven Stormfiends by games workshop. Our models all varied slightly but I feel it added to the lesson, allowing us to discuss different lighting situations on a variety of poses. Fun!

Definitely not the best lighting but you get the picture, pun intended.

A big thank you to Stephen and Erin :)
