Finished! Dark Angels detachment

All done and so much fun. A very cool unit once it's all said and done, I really enjoy the addition of the banner. It really add a regimental element. Every unit needs one of these. Enough blatter, on with the pictures.

First up the 10 man tactical squad:

And a few heavy hitters

Next on the docket I have a small personal project that will be a gift for a girl I like...hahaha, think Rackham ;) then back to the grind.

Dark Angels WIP

A recent and smaller commission I started this afternoon. This one also brings a bit of a glint to my eye. In a way, personally, it ushers away the starter box figures we all new and loved over the past years. Goodbye Black Reach, hello Dark Vengeance.

Here they are after the airbrush work and a green wash, also airbrushed on to tie everything together.

Now it's down to the brushwork :) my favorite.

Finished! WreckAge Stitchmen

Last night was spent with fellow painter Tom Ails..You'll know when the U.S. Golden Demon results are posted ;) We got down to what us artisans do. Silently painting and listening to the Go Go's, Waylon Jennings, and whatever else I could dig out of the record box.

My task at hand was a pair of Stitchmen from the WreckAge range. If you haven't checked them out please do. They're running a kickstarter right now and it's a great time to jump on as they've already smashed their goal and the goodies are multiplying. I had the chance to demo a scenario at Adepticon and the game play was a very understandable D6 system. Not quite the "smells like 40k" I was expecting and that's a good thing :)

After finishing these guys off I hit a bit of a wall. That one where you're unsure what to start next. I'm swamped and it's bearing down on me. No matter though, just keep the brush a sweeping. Here are a few shots of the night.

Ahh yes, above you can almost see inside my head. Just a few of many projects taking shape in the background.

WIP WreckAge Stitchmen

Some fine models from some fine gentlemen. This is a log of today's progress and general nerdyness. The focus of the night was a pair of Stitchmen from the WreckAge range. It was Wednesday and as usual that meant hauling my gear down to Kevin's office to busy my hands and contribute to the nerdy jabbering. I prepped these two earlier in the day. I took a picture at this stage to show the raw ingredients. The greenstuff on the barrel was due to a tragic bend.

...and a primer coat

Once they were fully prepped I headed to Kevin's place. Busy hands tinkering away, my favorite :)

I took a quick picture tonight after the dust settled. Not the highest quality but I'll be finishing them off tomorrow and pulling out the vaseline for a closeup.

Finished! Deathwatch Librarian

I've had this idea for a while to make a deathwatch Librarian and the plastic one in the Dark Vengeance box just happened to come along at the time I needed one. I tried something a little different on this one. I've been experimenting lately and trying to take a different approach to my color choices and placement. I wanted to stick to pink, purple, and maroon tones but the blue shoulder pad was necessary.

He's up for sale here

I've also thrown up a whole mess of other minis. I have to make room for more some time right?

Finished! Belial, Master of the Deathwing

Here's the Belial I posted up last time. He's in route to his new home is Switzerland at the moment. A fun model to paint and I challenged myself to not use any blue. No particular reason, I just typically use it on a lot of minis. I like the results, there's just a little something different about him.

Dark Angels hooo!

One finished and one built :)

These are a pair of commissions from separate people that just happened to end up following the Dark Vengeance release. Fist up is a completed Samael done to a higher tabletop quality.

I can see for once the necessity for finecast. The pewter version of this model had to have snapped many clear tips from it bases. One the other hand the detail is still murky in many areas..

I started painting this guy up last night but not before snapping some bare pictures. So far his base is done and his armor basecoated. Expect more of him in the future ;)

Finished! Chaos Helbrute

Well just about 24 hours later and I've managed to finish off a Helbrute..Just something about this model really grabbed me. Same for the Chosen in the new Dark Vengeance box. The new rules bother me a bit but the models are great...Anyways, on with the pictures.

Don't forget to right click the picture and view it in a new tab to see it full size ;)

I had a blast painting this model and some of the speed at which I painted him might show in some areas but I'm not going to get hung up on perfection..this time. I was happy to try some new techniques reminiscent of the Rackham catalogs I've been enjoying and I went for a Tzeentch/Slaneesh alignment for this one.
