Steppin into some Malifaux

Why not? Some locals are picking up the game and I've been wanting to play something with more than 2 opponents so let's go for it. Brother John and I sat down and started at the beginning, grab that started box and get to work! Here are a few shots of what we cooked up.

More to come as the game unfolds for us. My first objective is painting up the unit of Death Marshalls. I've also enjoyed the challenge of deciding on a base for this gang. From what I could see online they have a western theme for this faction. Lucky for me there was still some crud from utah stuck to my van. Want to find materials desert bases? Try the desert.

Finished! Mercs Miniatures Kemvar Shock Trooper

This is a piece I did for Mercs Miniatures last week. The scale and posing reminded me a bit of infinity which is a comforting feeling. Definitely a coool mini :)

Finished! Tau Broadsides

These were done to a Tabletop level for my little baby Dark Lens Studio. Nothing too fancy but I think they're not without their charms. Plus they have more missiles than you.

Finished! Chaos Helbrute

Just can't get enough of that green on brown action. Yet another Helbrute to bolster the legions of chaos. Always a fun model to paint and I tried a new technique out. Just a simple dot of secret weapon's baby poop wash, wait a moment and dab out the middle with a paper towel.

Gotta eat and shit ain't free, throw a bid on eBay just for me.

Commander Farsight WIP

Just a few more drops of blood and I'll have the finished version to share. It's been a fun project and something I probably wouldn't think of myself. But I has me thinking now about the boxy features of the tau suits and light sourcing..Any way here are some pictures of a man's life in the cold.

My winter painting stronghold.

Preparing for More of that Gore.

Today's mission is to do a little wildstyle and finish off a Hellbrute I prepared yesterday.

Commander Farsight WIP

Just before I cover up my handy work with horrible painting I though I'd show how good the models looks before hand. The client had a really cool concept for the base and I hope I do it justice. He also requested I paint Commander Farsight in white instead of the typical red scheme and that his plasma rifle was firing. I though this made a much more active model and it allows for some nice light sourcing to throw over the white. Oh and a hollywood amount of black ork blood! That is my mission :)

I'm also waiting for the sun to go down so I can take some pictures of the Broadsides I finished in my last post. Why not paint to pass the time? Eyo!

Gunning for ya!

With this project nearly complete I had to slip in some in progress shots before the big reveal. It's about the small victories I guess. Fresh for 2014 here is a trio of Tau Broadsides for my buddy JR, who also happens to be the man :) This scheme was his brainchild and my hands were just there to help. I really like what he picked out, this only furthers my Tau curiosity. I've been cooking up the painting gumbo in the kitchen lately. It's just been too cold to make it to the dojo. Fun fact: it's actually colder than Mars in some parts of Wisconsin..That's not fun at all.

My love for 40K as a game is definitely a loveless marriage at this point. It saddens me to say it and I don't know how I'll tell the young 'uns..No problem, I don't breed. But GW's models will always have a piece of me, your pick GW, I could see deeply enjoying a long paintjob on one of these for my collection. Only time will tell!
