Imperial Guard for hire

Just a few Imperial Guard auctions. These were an older commission from when I was just starting out. Kind of nostalgic. The owner is switching gears and being in need of some extra funds asked me to send them to a loving home.

First up I put together a command squad of sorts.

Check on them here

Then there was a Commissar..of questionable quality. I did a quicker job on him.

Lastly a Forgeworld titan commander.

Next time I'll have a juicy hunk of some Dark Angel goodies ;)

Finished! Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf

Here's the other piece I finished alongside Logan Grimnar. I'm really liking the Crushed Glass from Secret Weapon as snow :) On with the pictures.

If you're interested in your own viking spaceman riding a giant wolf check him out on Ebay.

Finished! Logan Grimnar

This is my 3rd rendition of The Old Wolf..and still they want more haha :)

Next up, a Wolf Lord I painted along side Logan. It's been space marine mania lately and you can expect more characters in the coming days. Until then, stay tuned.

Back from Gencon 2012!

Chillin' at the Webber Grill..after a 12 hour day.
I survived Gencon! As usual the trip included all the ups, downs, and new friends. Working a vendor booth gives you a different perspective that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, but it's over now and I'm already looking forward to next year.

If you check the postings before this one you can see what I was working on up to the trip. I'm happy to say my work paid off. I took 3 gold, one silver, and a bronze home from the P3 Grandmaster competition. I was also overjoyed to take home the best in category trophy from my unit of Runeshapers :)

Yay!

Apologies for the delay on the pictures of the diorama I promised. At any rate, here they are.

Right click and open it in a new tab to view it full size ;)

I'm already looking forward to next year's events. At the end of the circuit I've walked away with many awards and I've pushed my painting further than I ever have.

Bye for now!

Finished! Trollblood Runeshapers

Here they are in all their completed glory :) Another addition to the ranks. I'm also bringing these guys to Gencon with me so keep your fingers crossed.

I just finished taking some pictures of my completed diorama this morning..Hopefully there's something worth seeing in there. It was tricky to photograph but I took a multitude of shots so I'd have plenty to work with. I'm also scratching my head trying to figure out how I'm going to transport this thing..

The press continues

I'm happy to say at this point in time the diorama is complete :) I'm pondering how to photograph it but until then I wanted to show off the main elements in an earlier stage.

I'll have pictures of the completed scene in the near future.

Now that I've completed 5 Privateer Press pieces it's back to old GW for a bit. I planned on starting this guy when I got back from Gencon but hey, I finished the diorama early, why not work ahead of myself?

This is the next Logan Grimnar I was commissioned to do..Since I made that first one I've realized how popular the old wolf is, wow. I could set up a Logan factory but where's the fun in that? Enough pondering!

I'm heading to Gencon in 2 days but I should be able to fire off one more post of some completed models. It's about time right?! hah, this has quite a log of in progress shots over the last few days. Thanks for reading and I promise you'll be rewarded with some actually painted models.

Wednesday Night Hobby Jam

I finished sculpting the Diretroll's missing arm this morning :) Once the putty sets I can finally get painting. My sculpting isn't the strongest but thanks to instant mold I was able to copy most of the textures from other parts of the model.

Last night was Wednesday and as usual the door was open at Kevin's office. http://myworld.ebay.com/teachermickeymouse/?_trksid=p4340.l2559 The numbers were lower this time and I'm not complaining. Last week we crammed 9 people in there. Much work was still done and with a little elbow room this time.

As the planets align.

I was kind of a hungover mess all day but I did manage to get some work done on the other models that will be appearing in my diorama. They still need that extra level but they're off to a good start. Since I'm a little crunched for time I'll be using true metallics on this piece.

Despite the setback of a major piece missing from the troll things are coming together. Slowly but surely and my final materials have arrived :)

Many hands tinkering on many tables.

Well, I'm off to lay some primer on that beast from the top of this post. Maybe I'll snap some pictures of the Runeshapers too...hmm

Hive Tyrant 40K Large Gold

I took an attempt at capturing this beast in my lightbox this morning. I was very happy to have taken home a Gold for him at the recent Golden Demon. But alas, he was a commission and must be mailed back to his rightful owner.

With that aside it's back to the P3 madness. The Runeshapers are nearly complete and I'll see them finished at some point today :) Which will lead me to my final project, an entry for the diorama category. It's pretty simple but I'm liking it. The only problem is having to sculpt half the Troll's upper torso and with 6 days to go..I think I can do it :)

The madness continues

In more ways than one...I was happy to receive the final piece for my diorama on friday. I was sad to find that it was missing the left arm. Thanks again Privateer Press, I want to love you but I'm scared now. I'm scared that when I need you, you won't be there.

So what to do? Hope they ship me my missing part by Gencon? I won't hold my breath. I'll just work around it ;) My main focus is the Runebearers at this point but I did find some time to put my instant mold to good use.

I'm hoping this comes together well. I'd prefer to have the kit I paid for but hey, $50 isn't enough to guarantee that. Apparently...

We'll see what happens. In the mean time Major Tom and I got down with some serious painting on the real tip. Tom recently won Gold in the 40K vehicle category :) Congrats to him and he's already burning at both ends with projects.

Here he is tinkering away with techniques and building an Ork flakk gun.

My goal for the night was to get some paint on my unit. Unit of Runeshapers!

They're off to a good start and tomorrow is a new day :) Until then keep painting..Unless reading is your thing, then check out some other bloggers and posts.

Table notes: Privateer Press madness

As time runs out leading up to Gencon I'm going to try and stay on the wagon through this one. 3 entries down 2 to go. I believe I've finished Lilith off this morning, no official photos yet but I spent some time melting pieces of clear plastic and stretching it to make icicles.

Here she is just before attaching her to the base.

Right at home in the cold wilderness of Everblight. Hanging below are some icicles I tried making from plastic cement.

The only touch I'm still considering is to add some drops of blood in the snow. hmmm..

So with her mostly out of the way I have 9 days to finish my other two entries. A unit of Runebearers are sitting at the gate, all trimmed primed and based :)

I'm also scrambling to put together a diorama. I've decided to depict the trample attack from the game. I'll reveal the models in time but here's where it starts.

I picked up a wood plank from a local craft store to start the base. I took it home and went straight to mapping out the placements.

Next a little milliput and bark was added to break up the flatness and create a frame for the base to house the heavy warbeast I'll add later. I decided to leave him detachable for easy transport.

Then it was time to add a little scenery :)

It still needs another layer of dirt and a length of chain attached to the three posts..I'm also waiting on the warbeast to show up at the local shop..

Wednesday Night Hobby Jam

For a few weeks now Kevin the Bits Pimp ( http://myworld.ebay.com/teachermickeymouse/?_trksid=p4340.l2559) has been opening the doors to his office for some hobbying. It's always comforting to commit to nerdyness in large numbers. I was working on my Lilith from Privateer Press' Hordes line. Many projects were taking shape around me and were too numerous to record. The pictures do the talking anyway.

So there you have it, many mostly faceless hands tinkering away. I'm already looking forward to next week's meeting.

At this point Lilith is nearing completion. Soon I'll be leaving for Gencon, in 11 days to be precise and those days will be filled with a furious yet somehow calm painting frenzy. I've been enjoying building up my Trollbloods force since the last year and I'm going to be preparing many entries for this year's P3 Competition.
