Finished! Perturabo, Primarch of the Iron Warriors

A damn fine sculpt in a full metal jacket.

This time around it dawned on me to magnetize the display base so the model could be removed for gaming. Which was possible because the base was a wreck and no one would notice the seams ;)

Painted for a special dude I met by attending Adepticon for the last 5 years. Cheers Duncan, See you and the con!

WIP Khador Grolar

I took the first few steps on the Grolar this weekend. Hopefully I can move fast and get him done next week, gotta keep that brush moving. The first picture below is where I ended up after some airbrushing and sketching on the banner.

WIP Perturabo

The walking fortress himself Perturabo! It's been a challenge going the NMM route on this but it's worth the effort. This sculpt is one of my favorites Forgeworld/Gamesworkshop/whatever they call themselves have produced. It absolutely captures, in a sculpture, the artwork style of John Blanche. I can't say it any better than that. An absolute joy to bring to life.

Here's how it began.

Airbrush!

Paintbrush!

Money shot of that sweet wet pallet. I had to mix up a custom gray /blue to get it just right. Exile blue, Vallejo black and white.

Preppin and steppin, also a little preview of an upcoming project. I know it's hard to tell but the chunky components that make up the scenic base have been magnetized so Perturabo can be used in game as well. It finally dawned on me to magnetize those scenic bases after painting three Primarchs..Live and learn, slowly I guess.

Alright, Back to it! I have Empire soldiers to build and a Grolar to paint!

Finished! Hac Tao Hacker

Say that three times fast. Rounding out the more enforceful side of this Yu Jing force is the Hac Tao, hacker version. All in that poppin' cool mountain dew green I've grown to love. First though, a family photo.

I get a kick out of the "hacker poses" of Infinity. This one appears to be touching the lips of his enemy to convey a simple hushhhhh, before he cuts them to ribbons. Or flesh ribbons..like bacon.

Finished! Yan Huo

That's right, two posts with identical titles in a row. But it's not a mistake, this time around I present the heavy rocket version of the Yan Huo. Nasty, nasty, burst 3 blast weapons. I'm thankful I've painted only one for my main opponent as this was a local commission for a buddy I infinity with.

Stay tuned, next time we'll have a little support for all this heavy infantry.

Finished! Yan Huo

The HMC version of this very heavy infantry, or Hyper Magnetic Cannon? Infinity is still new to me, especially an army I don't play. This strutter was painted up for my main opponent Triple H (Josh), before the infinity tournament we attended in Wausau. Which was a great time! Fortunately I didn't play him, I played a couple new opponents and another guy for the second time. Without further ado, on with the show.

Mean and Green, enjoy!

Next up, more Yu Jing!

Happy Father's Day!

To every inspiring father out there!

I have to thank my Dad for cultivating my interest in models at a very young age. It started with model airplanes that my brothers and I would hang from our ceilings with fishing line. Then later some cars and those really cool Ed "Big Daddy" Roth kits like Rat Fink to name a few. He's also one of the most hard core people I know. I could go on on and on 'cause I love the guy but I'll keep it short.

This little Gremmy was painted up in a little over an hour for my old man, which put a grin on his face. Great sculpt from Wyrd miniatures.

Finished! Dhuna Knot

Continuing right along the path of the Trollbloods, this time it's the Dhunia Knot. This unit also includes what has to be one of my favorite troll sculpts, which I had to add a "table" of scrying cards to. The symbols include a snake, an eye, and a grizzly paw, loosely translating to "watch out for snakes and grizzlies.

Too Many Puppies!

So many projects that need attention on my desk as of late. I'm going to get one more Trollblood unit knocked out and then switch gears to other commissions that have been patiently waiting. I also have to shelve my infinity army until after Gencon, a necessary delay.

Next week's starting goals are finishing this small Yu Jing Commission, wrapping up the Dhunia Knot, and getting the Grolar rolling. Then we'll see what happens :)

Creepin' While You Sleepin'

One more for the Nomads before I put them on freeze for a bit. Gencon is coming up and I have some projects I should probably turn my attention to..So, one more addition for Corregidor. Which I ran in full sectorial glory last night. This bandit (assault hacker version)  made the game for me, immobilizing a heavy infantry before gutting him in close combat, then, with blood on his camo, dispatched another infantrymen before meeting his bullet to the head..It's a very cinematic game :)

For the Kriel! Chapter 4

Moving right along, Troll by Troll. For the next piece of the army I chose the Dhunia Knot, which I've wanted to paint since they came out. The gypsy look is very characterful and adding a unique effect to each of their bases came naturally. I still have to make the cards for the fortune teller but that's the plan for the flat slate. The others are summoning roots and balancing rocks, Valhalla rising style.

Hey look, a sheet of paper behind the subject. The rate I ant to post has the side effect of being too lazy to take WIP pictures in my lightbox but maybe this will help the view.

Back to it! I shall runnnn! (Play the song)
